Whenever putting together your MLB DFS lineups, you shouldn’t just focus on hot hitters as you also need to look at struggling pitchers. A pitcher whose fastball has lost some zip or whose slider isn’t breaking as much can make an average hitter a great hitter on any given night. Thus, the Phillies vs. Nationals game at 7:05 p.m. ET carries lots of intrigue as both starters have ERAs north of 6.00.
Big names like Bryce Harper and Juan Soto were already likely under consideration as top MLB DFS picks, but their teammates deserve attention as well. Perhaps you can get an undervalued player from one of these lineups as there should be lots of offense in this contest. But who among the MLB DFS player pool will give you the best bang for your buck? Before locking in any MLB DFS picks for Tuesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for August 31, 2021
One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Tuesday is Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette at $3,800 on FanDuel and $5,300 on DraftKings. Bichette went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI on Monday, his third straight game with a run driven in. He enters play on Tuesday on a modest five-game hitting streak with a total of eight hits over that stretch.
The second-generation player has been one of the best power-speed combos all year as he has 21 home runs and 20 stolen bases. He’s one of five players with at least 20 homers and 20 steals this year with a .286 average to boot. Bichette has also feasted off Baltimore pitching this year with a .310 average across 42 at-bats, so he’s clearly one of the top options for Tuesday’s MLB DFS lineups.
Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada ($3,500 on FanDuel, $4,200 on DraftKings). The 26-year-old is ripping the cover off the ball as of late as his 14-game hitting streak is the longest in the majors. Moncada has gone 19-for-53 (.358) over the streak with nine runs scored and five RBI.
Moncada has a favorable matchup on Tuesday against Pirates‘ RHP Bryse Wilson (2-5, 4.35 ERA). A switch-hitter, Moncada has hit better from the left side of the plate against righties like Wilson. His OPS is 118 points higher against right-handed pitchers than southpaws, as nine of his 11 homers have also come against righties. Moncada is a good bet to extend his hitting streak to 15 games on Tuesday, so he’s someone you need in your MLB DFS lineups.
