After posting their longest winning streak in nearly 60 years, the New York Yankees have begun heading in the opposite direction. New York posted 13 consecutive wins from Aug. 14-27, matching a stretch it enjoyed in September 1961, but now has lost three straight contests — its longest skid since June 30-July 4. The Yankees turn to right-hander James Taillon, who has gone 7-0 over his last 13 starts, as they hope to end the slide Tuesday against the host Los Angeles Angels. Should you expect Taillon to remain unbeaten since May 31, or is there value in Los Angeles to record its third win in a row and bring a return on the money line?

The latest MLB odds for Tuesday from Caesars Sportsbook list the Yankees as -195 favorites (risk $195 to win $100) on the money line. Other MLB lines of note include the Colorado Rockies at -130 against the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics as slight money-line favorites (-111) versus the Detroit Tigers. Before you make any MLB picks on those games or any others on Tuesday, you need to see the MLB predictions and betting advice from the SportsLine Projection Model.

The model likes the Houston Astros at -157 on the money line against the Seattle Mariners. Houston, which owns a six-game lead over Oakland in the American League West, edged Seattle 4-3 in the series opener on Monday for its fifth victory in six contests. The Astros hope to keep rolling behind Lance McCullers Jr. (10-4, 3.32 ERA), who has had plenty of success against Seattle during his career. In 16 starts versus the Mariners, the 27-year-old right-hander has posted a 9-3 record and 2.93 ERA with 110 strikeouts over 92 innings.

McCullers has won both of his turns against Seattle this season, including a triumph on Aug. 20 in which he allowed two runs and fanned eight batters over six frames. Conversely, Mariners starter Yusei Kikuchi (7-7, 4.33) is 1-4 with a 6.35 ERA in nine career turns versus the Astros. The 30-year-old Japanese left-hander fell to 1-2 with a 6.23 ERA in four starts against Houston this year after being tagged for seven runs in 2.2 innings on Aug. 20. Kikuchi escaped with a no-decision versus Kansas City in his most recent outing despite yielding four runs over five frames.
